Our Story So Far

Gem Scents began during the 2020 lockdown. I’ve always loved candles ever since I was young. There’s nothing quite like coming home, closing the curtains, and curling up surrounded by candlelight and comforting scents.

We started experimenting with making candles for fun, sampling different fragrances just to see what we could create. I quickly realised I could make something far better than the mass-produced products I’d been buying for years and my friends and family agreed.

Soon, we launched a Facebook page to showcase our creations, and from there things just grew. After a lot of research, passion, and persistence, we connected with some amazing Instagram accounts who kindly supported us in getting the word out. Over the years, we’ve built some fantastic relationships with them, and I’ll always be eternally grateful for their help.

Our Instagram page became my next creative outlet. I love home styling, accessories, crafting and I’m always looking for ways to make things “just that little bit prettier.”

Before candles, I used to make gemstone jewellery. I’ve always been drawn to gemstones, their vibrant colours, the way they catch the light. So when I began creating candles, it only made sense to incorporate gemstones into them. Yes, the candles smelled amazing but for me, the gemstones are what truly made them special.

One of our proudest moments was being featured in Vogue magazine. That was such a dream. I’ve read and been inspired by Vogue my whole life, so seeing our work in those pages meant the world.

As things progressed, we had a successful pop-up at John Lewis, which then led to a bigger opportunity: our very own boutique in Camden Market, London. It was a huge step, but we jumped at the chance. The shop was beautiful, and we loved every single minute of it.

It was never meant to be forever, but we’ll always be grateful for the experience. We met so many amazing people and gave it our all working 7 days a week for two years straight. When the lease came to an end, it felt like the right time to take a break and recharge.

But now… we’re back.
